Antonio Banderas and Isaac Florentine maybe a strange combination butit work with a movie like Acts of Vengeance. After losing both wife anddaughter in a cold night Frank Valera played by Antonio Banderastransform himself into a man with few words driven by well....vengeanceand he will not stop until he find out who did it.The script fill withplot convenience and i would love to see Karl Urban character flesh outa little bit to make the final arc more effective but overall goodaction and good acting plus i have a soft spot for low budget actionmovie so this movie get a 7 out of 10

It seems Antonio Banderas is making a lot of movies of the same genrelately. This is not to say that's bad. I Think he does quite a good jobas an "average man" tough guy. This film is no different, however, there are some exceptions.
I gave this film a generous 7/10. Mostly because I am liking Banderasmore and more of late and the plot of this film, although flimsy attimes, is pretty good and fast paced.
As in 90% of my reviews, I try to avoid spoilers at all costs as to notruin it for future viewers. I will stick to that rule and simply talkabout what I did and did not like about this film....first, this is aplot we have seen before but was done with some different twists and asolid unforeseeable outcome. Banderas' character is a man on a missionafter the murder of his wife and daughter. He is a defense attorneywith no fighting or "revenge" skills but learns them quickly as thepolice seem uninterested in finding the person/persons responsible. This is where He takes matters into his own hands.
The film has some excellent choreographed fight scenes and the pace ofthe film is without boredom. However, the way our protagonist goesabout learning how to become a "tough guy" is quite far out andunbelievable.
Throughout the film, there are quotes regarding "revenge" from MarcusAurelius' meditations, in six parts. Each act is then played out afterthe quote is read on screen.
In summation: a worthwhile film with some good action scenes and asolid but familiar story line. Much of the fight scenes from Bandwras'perspective is unrealistic but entertaining. If you are a fan of theaction/ thriller and revenge sub genre, you won't be disappointed. Ifyour looking for something new and original, this film won't make thecut.
It was not 90 minutes of boredom or a waste of time....

This is no a big screen blockbuster by a long measure, but I'd say itsa small to medium endeavour if I had to guess. Small but good cast, andgood production quality, so reasonable budget if that is anything to goby.
There's a well used theme and formula in operation with no tweaks orsurprises to merit any real creativity. What you get is a tried andtested rendition of revenge with an ageing but very able Banderas atthe helm, a lesser 'John Wick' motif if you will.
There are the usual post enlightenment fight training scenes, theemotional flashbacks and the heightened capabilities every Hollywoodhero needs after his epiphany. It's all 'run of the mill' stuff thatyou've seen before but that said, it's all done well and you can'tcomplain when this only delivers exactly what it claims on the label.
Banderas is his usual brilliant self and even with this selfperpetuating plot manages to add something special. The rest of thecast is very able and the performances are solid and engaging. Thescript is good if a little clichéd, the direction also good and thecinematography lovely clean and crisp.
The action sequences are OK but I've seen better. The violence ispretty much what you'd expect for this type of film but not excessive.Banderas is quite competent as an action hero and manages to pull thisrole off with some merit, though some of the stunt double switches areglaringly obvious.
There is a voice over from our protagonist that runs through the movie. It works fairly well given the limited dialogue in places, but can be alittle intrusive and superfluous at times. The emotive elements of themovie work well to add some depth and dimension, and it's a nicebalance with the action and thriller aspect of the film.
Overall this is a good entertainment piece. Again, nothing spectacularor ground breaking, but definitely worth the experience.
I recommend it.
